
Rachel Wattier, MD, MHS
Rachel Wattier, M.D., M.H.S., who joined the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Health in July 2015, serves as Medical Director of the Pediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco. In this role, she collaborates with pharmacists, nurses and physicians to ensure that patients receive timely therapy with the right antibiotic, at the right dose, for the right duration, with appropriate de-escalation when antibiotics are no longer needed.
Dr. Wattier provides care to patients on the inpatient Pediatric Infectious Diseases Consultation Service and outpatient Pediatric Infectious Diseases Clinic. She is a member of the UCSF Immunocompromised Host Infectious Diseases Program and is involved in clinical research and care for children immunocompromised due to transplantation, chemotherapy, or primary immunodeficiencies. She is involved in multicenter research protocols through the International Pediatric Fungal Network and other pediatric research collaborations.
